The ACA Hurricane is a discontinued Civil Defense Siren produced by Alerting Communicators of America (ACA). It was produced between 1967-1981. It is known for being extremely similar to Federal Signals Thunderbolt series, with the Hurricane having a Roots type supercharger like the Thunderbolt.
Early Models of the Hurricane had a square horn much like the Thunderbolt series however in the 1970s it was abandoned in favor of a circular horn which was used until the model was discontinued.
The Hurricane came with several port Ratios:
- 10/12
- 8/10
- 8/12
- 8/8
- 10/10
- 12/12
However only the 8/10 model was widely produced and is the only port Ratio seen on all surviving units.
It is also known that a possible Tri-signal Model was produced. However no known unit exists. This model however was mentioned in an ACA Manuel for the Hurricane. This model used solenoids to produce a high-Low signal much like the Thunderbolt 1003.
